Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association dealt with the Shed Camp Fire on Wednesday.

Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said at 12:00 p.m. DFPA’s camera detection center identified a smoke column approximately 11 miles southeast of Tiller.

Pope said wildland firefighters from DFPA and the Umpqua National Forest Tiller Ranger District, responded to a fire with a mutual aid response block. Crews arrived to find an estimated 2-acre fire burning in an inactive industrial slash unit, with no threat to homes or structures.

Pope said firefighters quickly engaged in an initial attack and stopped the fire’s forward spread. With assistance from DFPA’s dozer, the fire was fully lined and plumbed and mop-up efforts began. Limited smoke may still be visible in the area. No homes or structures were threatened. The cause of the Shed Camp Fire remains under investigation.
