Three ballot measures around Douglas County are passing in initial vote counting.

Unofficial results from the Douglas County Clerk’s Office as of early Wednesday show a proposal to repeal the Public Safety Fee in the City of Sutherlin ahead by a 59 percent to 42 percent margin. Currently owners of developed properties in the city are assessed a $9 monthly fee with $6 going to the police department and $3 to the fire department to help pay for the cost of running those agencies.

In the City of Myrtle Creek, an amendment to the city charter is passing 53 percent to 47 percent. It would allow the city administrator to live within the 97457-zip code area. Currently the administrator is required to live in the Myrtle Creek City limits.

Patrons of the Days Creek Rural Fire District are saying yes to a measure which would impose a five-year $1.20 increase per $1,000 of assessed property tax, to provide additional funds for district operations starting in fiscal year 2027.
