BROCK SMITH LEADING, HOPES TO CHALLENGE MERKLEY FOR U.S. SENATE

First District State Senator David Brock Smith is leading GOP voting and hopes to challenge incumbent U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley in November, according to unofficial results from the Oregon Secretary of States Office, as of early Wednesday morning.

Brock Smith is receiving 30 percent of the vote in a crowded field of 7 candidates. Jo Rae Perkins has 27 percent of the vote and is in second place. Brent Barker is at 23 percent and running third.

Merkley has 93 percent of the Democratic vote.

Fourth District Congresswoman Val Hoyle is winning her Primary race with 77 percent of the Democratic vote. Monique DeSpain is winning the Republican Primary with 87 percent of the vote.
