A Douglas County H.O.P.E. Drug Court graduate phase participant has launched the Harvesting Hope Project, a community-wide initiative designed to support and expand its food pantry services for families in Roseburg and surrounding areas.
A Douglas County Circuit Court Release said the Roseburg Dream Center food pantry currently distributes thousands of pounds of food each week, serving approximately 2,000 individuals every month. With a strong commitment to meeting both nutritional and emotional needs, the pantry provides a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, alongside essential shelf-stable and non-perishable food items.
Roseburg Dream Center Director Jeremy Grammon said, “Our goal is in ensure that every person who walks through our doors leaves with not only food for their household, but also encouragement, dignity and hope”. Grammon said, “We are deeply grateful for our volunteers and community partners who help make this possible”.
The Harvesting Hope Project will include multiple community events aimed at collecting food and raising critical support for the pantry.
The initiative includes the launch of Roseburg’s first-ever tap-to-pay car wash fundraisers. It will utilize a secure donation system connected directly to the Roseburg Dream Center’s account through a money cube technology. They will be held:
*This Saturday, May 23rd at Abby’s Legendary Pizza on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
*Saturday, June 7th at Abby’s Legendary Pizza on Northeast Stephens Street from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Erik Anderson, who credits his recovery journey to the grace and support of others, is leading additional food collection efforts as part of the project. His mission is to “pay it forward” by helping restock the Roseburg Dream Center pantry. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted:
*Saturday, May 30th at Grocery Outlet on Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
*Sunday May 31st at Sherm’s Thunderbird Market on Northwest Stewart Parkway from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
