Roseburg Police jailed a man for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle early Sunday morning.
An RPD report said at 2:00 a.m. officers responded after a caller said there had been vehicle theft in the 1400 block of Northwest Troost Street. 36-year-old Christopher Kerns was identified as the suspect. Troopers with the Oregon State Police located the vehicle a short time later and detained Kerns without issue.
The suspect refused to speak with officers. The vehicle had sustained heavy damage during the time that Kerns was driving it. He was taken into custody and also charged with driving while suspended and a parole violation. Kerns was detained without bail. The vehicle was not drivable, and a towing company recovered it.
