Cooler weather is expected for the Umpqua Valley this weekend, with light rain possible on Saturday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the cooling pattern is beginning Friday as a front has moved in. A trough approaching late Friday into Saturday means the area could see a bit of rain, though amounts are expected to be minimal. Sunday it’s back to sunshine with afternoon highs in the mid 60’s.

Forecasters said warmer weather will return early next week with highs approaching 80 degrees starting mid-week.
