Roseburg Police jailed two people on Tuesday night for a reported prior robbery.
An RPD report said officers were dispatched to a incident involving people fighting, honking a car horn and yelling for help at Sunshine Park in the 100 block of Sunshine Road on May 4th at 5:45 a.m. When they arrived, no one was there. A short time later, CHI Mercy Medical Center contacted dispatch after a victim had arrived at the hospital, claiming he was assaulted at the park. The victim was unable to speak at the hospital but wrote the names “Cutty” and “Biscuit” on a piece of paper naming the alleged aggressors. The victim advised that they had been pistol whipped, shot with BB’s and strangled with a seatbelt while trying to stop the aggressors.
On Tuesday, officers were able to develop probable cause to arrest 35-year-old Cody Boots and 37-year-old Jessica Blessent, Both people were located at The Point in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street. Each was charged with first-degree counts of assault and robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing. Boots was also charged with strangulation. Both people also had multiple warrants for their arrest for other cases and were detained on $10,000 bail.
