A City of Roseburg release said the community is invited to come play for free on the newly renovated courts from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or just stop by to view the courts and enjoy a celebratory barbecue. The facility is at 1201 Northwest Stewart Parkway. It offers eight tennis courts, ten dedicated pickleball courts and new fencing, lighting, seating, entryway, and security system.
UVTV will serve hamburgers and hot dogs for the free event, which will feature a beer and wine garden.
The overhaul was financed with a $750,000 state grant won by the Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department along with $523,000 in city funds and $1.252 million in matching community funds from individuals, businesses and foundations that were raised by UVTC.
As UVTC grows, the organization announced this week that Nathan Miller has been hired as its general manager. A release said Miller is already a passionate member of the tennis and pickleball community and brings a strong background in journalism, outreach and photography through his work with The News Review. Miller will oversee day-to-day operations, support programming, develop club marketing and more.
