In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:
The Umpqua Valley Youth Orchestra has opened registration for the 2026-2027 season.
The UVYO welcomes returning as well as new students with no previous experience. UVYO is a string orchestra consisting of violins, violas, cello and string bass with occasional percussion and piano. New students with previous playing experience should contact Director/Conductor Kristin Parks at 643-5035 for class placement.
UVYO students are involved in weekly classes from pre-beginning up to advanced students and will learn classical, baroque, romantic, modern as well as current original works and music from Broadway, movies and pop. Students will perform in two large concerts at Umpqua Community College as well as other outreach opportunities in the community. Classes are held on Thursday afternoons at the Roseburg Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1108 Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard.
