A driver was taken to a hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Thursday night.

An Oregon State Police report said just before 10:30 p.m. troopers responded to the accident on Highway 38 approximately two miles west of Scottsburg. A sedan was traveling eastbound when the driver swerved to avoid a deer that was in the roadway. The vehicle went into the eastbound ditch and then crossed the road, coming to an uncontrolled rest over the westbound embankment.

The female driver was transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport in a private vehicle. An OSP Public Information Officer said the crash remains under investigation.
