A Yoncalla suspect evaded capture following an elude incident on Wednesday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 8:50 p.m. dispatch received several phone calls regarding a driving complaint involving a sedan near the intersection of Applegate Avenue and Alder Street in Yoncalla.
A deputy located the vehicle nearby. Once the driver saw the deputy, he immediately put the vehicle in reverse and accelerated backwards towards a residence in the 400 block of Alder Street. The 20-year-old suspect jumped out of the sedan and started running. The deputy chased him to the front porch of the home, where the suspect reportedly slammed the door and locked the deadbolt. The deputy has probable cause for charges of eluding in a vehicle and on foot and for third-degree escape.
