The Winston Police Department invites community members to safely dispose of expired or unwanted household medication during a Drug Take-Back Event this Saturday.

A WPD release said the service provides an easy and secure way for residents to get rid of medications, helping to prevent medication misuse, theft and accidental poisoning.

Medications can be brought to the Winston Police Department at 131 Rose Avenue between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. WPD representatives will be present to assist with medication collection. Residents should remove all personally identifiable information on medication labels before disposal.

Items not accepted include herbal remedies, vitamins, supplements, cosmetics, batteries, sharps, illicit drugs, pet pesticide products, animal medicines and biologics.
