Roseburg Parks and Recreation is celebrating Arbor Day on Friday.
A city release said Roseburg is marking a decade of Tree City recognition. Roseburg was first designated as a Tree City in 2016 by the Arbor Day Foundation. The organization has been using the Tree City USA program since 1976 to encourage the expansion and preservation of urban forests through tree planting and effective management and recognition of “green” communities.
Parks and Recreation also sponsored the 2026 Arbor Day Photo Contest. The top three tree photos will be announced on Friday on the Park’s and City Administration Facebook pages as well as on the city’s website.
Parks and Recreation staff are also offering a community volunteer tree-planting event at Stewart Park on Friday at 9:00 a.m. Residents are invited to meet staff in the parking lot at the duck pond to help plant approximately 20 trees along Newton Creek.
