Days Creek Charter School has announced their school board has hired a new superintendent.
Dave Stone currently serves as superintendent and K-5 elementary principal for the Prospect School District where he has been for the past four years. Stone has held previous educational positions in both Montana and Oregon. That has included seven years of teaching roles and 22 years in administration including as a principal at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, director at a community college, and as a superintendent. Stone also has experience coaching football, basketball and track.
Stone said, “I am humbled, honored and excited to return home after a 29-year education journey to serve the community I grew up in”. Stone said, “Plainly put…I believe Days Creek is a special place where kids come first and the love for a school community is real”. Stone said, “As I step into this role as superintendent at the Days Creek School District, I am deeply honored to rejoin a community that clearly cares so much about its students, staff and future”.
Stone will take over in July, following the retirement of current Superintendent Joe LaFountaine, who took the position in 2023. LaFountaine came out of his original retirement to serve at Days Creek.
