On Monday, the owner of the now-shuttered West Coast Game Park Safari in Bandon pled guilty to 47 charges, 43 of which were for neglecting animals at the facility.
53-year-old Brian Tenney appeared in Coos County Circuit Court. He also pled guilty to one count each of racketeering, delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a machine gun, short-barreled firearm or silencer, and recklessly endangering another. The racketeering conviction carries a maximum prison term of 20 years.
State police and other State of Oregon agencies raided the safari in May of 2025 after a lengthy investigation. Over 320 animals were confiscated. Federal agriculture inspectors had raised concerns about the park going back to at least 2016.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Managing Director of Captive Wildlife Debbie Metzler praised OSP for investigating the park and Tenny’s management of it. Metzler urged the court to impose the maximum penalty at Tenny’s July 20th sentencing.
