The 2nd Annual Cancer Prevention Event is happening May 13th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Presented by the Oregon Health & Science University, it will take place in the parking lot of Evergreen Family Medicine’s office on West Harvard Avenue at the intersection with Northwest Stewart Parkway. The afternoon will be focused on education, prevention and community support.
Attendees will learn practical ways to reduce their cancer risk, connect with trusted community partners, and get help scheduling routine cancer screenings. Free oral cancer screenings will be available. The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute mobile van will feature interactive, larger-than-life inflatable models of the colon and lungs – designed to teach about prevention in a hands-on way.
Community partners – including Douglas County Cancer Services, Camp Millenium, Douglas Public Health Network and others – will provide resources and information as well.
