A Canyonville woman was jailed on an arson charge following a disturbance on Friday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said deputies had been at a verbal disturbance earlier in the evening in the 400 block of Pickett Lane between 44-year-old Genia Green and a victim, who were both extremely intoxicated. Green was assisted back to her trailer in hopes of the two people remaining separate for the remainder of the night.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. fire personnel requested law enforcement to respond to the same location regarding a fire that they had extinguished. Deputies arrived on scene and could smell burned materials. The trailer where two victims lived had plastic and other materials surrounding it that clearly had been burned. The second victim was inside the home watching TV at the time the fire started. The first victim returned home to see the fire burning and got the second victim away from the trailer.
Green was in the area of the trailer and told the first victim that she was the one who had lit the fire. Green was located back at her nearby trailer and was placed under arrest. She reportedly refused to cooperate while being taken into custody and refused to walk to the patrol vehicle. Green was ultimately carried to a patrol vehicle by deputies. When at the jail, she was allegedly uncooperative with the booking process.
Green was charged with first-degree arson, second degree counts of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering. She was detained without bail.
