Thrive Umpqua will host its Third Thursday event Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Umpqua Valley Arts Center on West Harvard Avenue in Roseburg.
Attendees can create their own self-portrait with guidance from artist Victoria Carnate, who brings more than 25 years of teaching experience. Portraits will become part of a community-wide installation which will be on view throughout the summer.
The “Vacant to Vibrant” project reimagines empty storefront windows as spaces for creativity and connection. Its first installation, “Portraits of Community”, showcases self-portraits by local residents and will be on display this summer at the former Tolly’s building in Oakland and the old Rite Aid on Southeast Jackson Street in downtown Roseburg.
People participating in Third Thursday can also view the UVA gallery displays which will be open until 7:00 p.m.
