ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL TWO MEN FOR ALLEGED FRAUD CASE

Roseburg Police jailed two men in an alleged fraud case on Friday.

An RPD report said just after 11:30 a.m. officers contacted 43-year-old Michael Hood and 25-year-old Ivy Heimbuck near the intersection of Northeast Winchester Street and Northeast Odell Avenue regarding an incident from April 3rd in which several fraudulent checks had been cashed. After an investigation, officers determined that Hood had fraudulently cashed 6 checks for a total of $5,770 and Heimbuck had cashed a fraudulent check valued at $192 between March 15th and April 1st.

Both men admitted to chasing the checks knowing them to be fraudulent. The men were taken into custody without incident. Hood was charged with first-degree theft, 7 counts of identity theft, first-degree forgery, 6 counts of negotiating a bad check, and second-degree counts of theft and forgery. He was detained without bail. Heimbuck was charged with second-degree counts of theft and forgery and for negotiating a bad check. He was detained without bail and was released later on Friday.
