Roseburg Police charged a man with second-degree counts of criminal mischief and criminal trespass following an incident early Tuesday morning.
An RPD report said just after 1:15 a.m. officers contacted the 68-year-old in the parking lot of a motel in the 300 block of West Harvard Avenue after an employee said the man was banging on the lobby’s front doors trying to get in. The suspect allegedly started damaging guests’ vehicles with a rock from the parking lot.
The man had previously been trespassed from the business on numerous occasions. The suspect had a large rock next to him on the hood of the vehicle he was leaning up against and stated that he did not know why he was damaging vehicles with it. Officers observed deep scratches on one vehicle’s passenger side windows, scratches in the paint of another vehicle’s hood and fresh scratches on paint of another vehicle’s hood.
The man was detained without incident. Bail was set at $6,250.
