A Myrtle Creek man was jailed after an alleged menacing incident on Sunday morning.
An Oregon State Police report said at approximately 9:20 a.m. troopers were dispatched to the incident involving two pickups on Interstate Five northbound about two miles north of the Myrtle Creek exit.
The second vehicle was in the passing lane and moved to the slow lane, cutting off the first vehicle. The first pickup then tried to pass the second pickup in the left lane. The driver of the first pickup claimed the other vehicle had intentionally tried to run him off the road. That driver said he then produced his firearm and fired a shot at the other pickup.
The driver of the second pickup denied ever attempting to run the other vehicle off the road. The second driver, 33-year-old Steven Dwight, was charged with menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another and unlawful possession of a firearm. Dwight was detained without bail.
