A former employee of a Roseburg area construction company has been arrested following an alleged credit card fraud investigation.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies initiated an investigation after suspected fraudulent activity involving a credit card from Weekly Bros Heavy Civil and Mechanical Construction.
The company reported that a former employee, 41-year-old Travis Wayne Goza of Roseburg, had made unauthorized purchases using a company issued credit card over the course of approximately one year. The total amount of fraudulent charges is estimated to exceed $28,000.
The report said the investigation revealed that several unauthorized purchases were allegedly made for personal gain. It was further determined that Goza submitted receipts to the company falsely indicating that the purchases were for company business.
During an interview with deputies, Goza reportedly admitted to making some of the fraudulent purchases.
On Thursday, April 2nd, Goza was taken into custody and lodged in the Douglas County Jail on 31 charges. That included felony and misdemeanor counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, first and second-degree theft and first-degree forgery. Goza was detained without bail and was released on Friday.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 440-4471.
