True North Star Ministries will host a Community Reinvestment Summit on April 10th in the Cascade Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

It is being held in recognition of Second Chance Month. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

A release said April is a time to raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals returning to their communities after incarceration and to highlight the importance of rehabilitation, accountability and opportunity. The Community Reinvestment Summit reflects partnerships in Douglas County through organizations, nonprofits and treatment courts as a commitment to creating a safer, stronger community by investing in evidence-based programs that reduce recidivism and promote long-term recovery.

Event highlights include a reentry simulation experience, a panel discussion with community voices, information tables by local programs, networking opportunities and more.

True North Star Ministries encourage residents, agencies, and organizations to attend the Community Reinvestment Summit and join in supporting second chances throughout April and beyond.
