Roseburg Police charged a man with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 5:20 p.m. officers contacted a victim, in the 1600 block of Southeast Hamilton Street, who claimed the suspect was calling her and making threats. The woman said the pair were going through a divorce and the man was increasingly unstable. The victim said the suspect had called her and said he was going to shoot a friend, then come to her house, with her being next.

The man was allegedly walking towards the victim’s house from several miles away. Officers located the 42-year-old suspect and detained him. At the time, he was armed with a handgun. The man admitted to making threats but denied threatening to shoot the victim. At the time he was detained, the suspect had walked about three miles towards Roseburg from Winchester.

The man was detained without bail.
