Roseburg Police jailed a man Friday for the prior theft of a statue.

An RPD report said at 11:00 a.m. the 52-year-old was contacted at the Douglas County Jail after officers had reviewed footage of him stealing the item from the 1900 block of Northeast Stephens Street. The man admitted to stealing the statue but claimed he had lost it since then.

A charge of third-degree theft was added. Bail is now set at $6,250.
