A woman was taken to the hospital after a single vehicle crash on Sunday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 11:10 p.m. a driver and a passenger were headed downhill on Longs Ranch near the 7000 block of Melqua Road.
There was thick fog in the road and little to no light. After passing the two-mile marker, the driver was unable to see the road and his pickup went off the embankment. The vehicle stopped after hitting head on with a tree. Both people were able to climb out of the pickup and met with emergency responders on the road.
The passenger was taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center for her injuries. A towing company responded to recover the vehicle, but due to the embankment and the vehicle’s position, they were unable to and planned to return with more equipment during the daylight. Caution tape was placed on the nearby trees.
