ROSEBURG POLICE CITE MAN FOR PROHIBITED CAMPING/DEPOSITING TRASH

February 26, 2026 10:50 a.m.

Roseburg Police cited a man with prohibited camping and depositing trash within one hundred yards of a waterway on Wednesday.

An RPD report said the 47-year-old’s camp below the frisbee golf course in the 1400 block of Northwest Stewart Park Drive was posted for cleanup this week. When officers arrived at 9;00 a.m. with a work crew, the man had reportedly left a large amount of trash behind.

The man had a new camp set up about 75 yards away and left the area on his bicycle as soon as he saw on the officers. Camping is never allowed at this location due to its proximity to the South Umpqua River. This camp was approximately 50 feet from the river. The man had five prior convictions for prohibited camping.

Officers contacted the man a short time later at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street. He was transported to corrections where he was immediately released, due to medical issues.
