COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN DISASTERS TO OFFER CLASSES

February 17, 2026 3:05 a.m.

Greater Douglas United Way has been a partner with Community Organizations Active in Disasters for many years.

A United Way release said in 2025 they applied for and received a grant from Oregon Emergency Management. The focus of the grant is to increase the preparedness and resiliency of the residents of Douglas County.

GDUW is now offering two important classes to improve people’s readiness for disasters. These are the Oregon Emergency Management class ‘Be 2 Weeks Ready” and the American Heart Association class, “Heart Save CPR First Aid”. Both classes are free.

Classes will be taught at the United Way office on Southeast Jackson Street in downtown Roseburg. The first session of classes is coming up February 26th and 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on February 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To register and get more information call United Way at 672-1734.
