FRONTAL SYSTEM EXPECTED TO BRING LIGHT RAIN FOR THE WEEKEND

A frontal system offshore is expected to bring light rain to the Umpqua Valley for the weekend.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the system is likely to stall and move back to the north. That means only a bit of rain starting early Saturday and continuing into Sunday. A quarter to a half inch of rain is forecast for the weekend, though some areas closer to the coast could see up to an inch of moisture.

Forecasters said a stronger low on Monday will bring the potential for snow down to the pass levels. Colder temperatures late Tuesday and early Wednesday might lead to snow mixed with rain closer to the valley floor. Snow levels are not forecast to reach the Roseburg area.
