Roseburg Police charged a man for shopping cart thefts on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 10:40 a.m. the 48-year-old was contacted while he was sleeping in his tent at the disc golf course in the 1400 block of Northwest Stewart Park Drive. The man had a campfire burning outside his tent and additionally two shopping carts in his camp that belonged to local stores.

The suspect had two prior convictions for prohibited camping. He was arrested and charged with second-degree theft and a criminal count of prohibited camping. The man was cited for burning without a permit. He was taken into custody and transported to corrections. Bail was set at $11,250. His camp was cleaned up.
