MATTRESS IN FREEWAY LEADS TO SATURDAY CRASH

February 2, 2026 3:50 a.m.

A mattress in the freeway led to a crash on Saturday.

An Oregon State Police report said at approximately 4:45 p.m. troopers responded after a caller said a sedan had hit the object on Interstate Five southbound just south of the Garden Valley Boulevard Exit 125 interchange. Troopers determined that the mattress had become unsecured from the bed of a southbound pickup and then was struck by a sedan. The mattress became wedged in the inner fender well of the vehicle, making it undriveable.

The mattress was removed from the vehicle, and there appeared to be little or no damage to the car. The driver of the pickup the mattress came out of was given a warning or citation. No one was injured in the accident.
