Roseburg Police jailed a man Friday for an alleged prior sexual assault incident.

An RPD report said officers investigated an alleged incident that occurred on Thursday. Friday night at 9:45 p.m. officers contacted 27-year-old Jacob Hayter at a motel in the 1000 block of Northeast Stephens Street. Hayter admitted to being in a sexual relationship with a female and told officers he was aware that she was a juvenile. The victim reported that Hayter threatened to assault her if she did not allow him to sexually assault her.

Hayter was detained on first-degree charges of rape and sexual abuse, and for contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor. He was detained without bail.
