Roseburg Police cited a man for three charges after contacting him on Monday.

An RPD report said at 10:30 a.m. the 57-year-old was contacted in his tent, which was set up about fifteen feet from the paved path in the middle of Micelli Park in the 1400 block of Southeast Micelli Street. There was trash outside the man’s tent, as well as a plastic shopping cart belonging to Fred Meyer.

Due to the man’s medical issues, he was cited for second-degree theft, depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway, and prohibited camping, and was released on scene. The man was issued a trash bag to clean up his mess. The shopping cart was returned to Fred Meyer. Adapt and the United Community Action Network were contacted to assist the man in getting access to a walker or power wheelchair, as well as housing resources.
