Roseburg Police jailed a man Thursday night, after alleged robbery and theft incidents.

An RPD report said 9:40 p.m. officers contacted 33-year-old Joey Shippy after he allegedly walked into a fast-food outlet in the 2400 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway, pulled out a knife, and told an employee to give him money. Shippy reportedly then told the employee that he was just joking. The employee asked the suspect to leave the business and he complied.

Shippy was contacted and detained without issue. He allegedly admitted to pulling the knife but claimed that he did not try to rob anyone. During questioning, Shippy reportedly admitted to another theft committed earlier in the day, at a nearby business. He was charged with attempting to commit a class C felony, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, third-degree theft and menacing. Shippy was detained without bail and was released on Friday.
