A driver was jailed after allegedly eluding police during a traffic stop early Thursday morning.

A Winston Police Department report said at 1:05 a.m. an officer attempted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle. The vehicle refused to yield, resulting in a pursuit that started from the intersection of Main Street and Brosi Orchard Road and ended at the corner of Highway 42 and Brockway Road.

The 51-year-old male driver was taken into custody after officers broke out the driver side window and removed him from the vehicle. The man was charged with attempting to elude police and resisting arrest. He was detained without bail and was released later in the morning.
