OAKLAND MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT AND MENACING INCIDENT

An Oakland man was jailed for an alleged assault and menacing incident on Tuesday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:25 p.m. a third party said there had been an assault at a residence in the 3000 block of Slope Street, just north of Roseburg. A victim stated that 40-year-old Tyler Dearstine punched her several times, knocked her down, and took away and broke her cellphone when she tried to call 911.

Dearstine reportedly took the victim’s vehicle and drove to Myrtle Creek, where he was witnessed dropping the sedan off with a family member. The suspect was intercepted and detained. Dearstine denied all the allegations including driving the vehicle. He was charged with fourth-degree assault, menacing, and interfering with making a report Dearstine was detained without bail.
