Roseburg Police cited a man for city ordinance violations on Tuesday morning.
An RPD report said at 8:40 a.m. a 37-year-old was contacted in his tent, which was set up along the bank of the South Umpqua River in Templin Beach Park in the 100 block of Southeast Templin Avenue. Camping is prohibited at all times in the park due to its proximity to the river. The camp was attached to the trees, which is a violation of the manner portion of the ordinance, and it was set up after 8:00 a.m. which is a violation of the time portion of the ordinance. The camp was surrounded by trash. A large Bowie knife and a small hatchet were allegedly found in the man’s camp. Blades longer than 6 inches and cutting tools are prohibited on city real property.
The man was cited and released on the criminal charge of depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway. In addition, he was cited and released for the violations of prohibited camping and prohibited weapons and tools on city property.
