A Myrtle Creek man was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s report said at 11:15 p.m. the wreck was reported on Old Highway 99 South near the Roseburg Forest Products plant in Dillard. The 35-year-old driver had apparently fallen asleep, and his large SUV crashed into a Pacific Power pole, severing it at its base, and caused the poll to lean toward the roadway, suspended only by the power lines.
The man was later transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for what was believed to be a broken tail bone. He was later issued a citation for driving while suspended. The vehicle was towed after Pacific Power was able to stabilize the power pole.
