The Highway 42 paving and safety improvement project continues between Winston and Green.
An update from the Oregon Department of Transportation said safety features being added should help reduce crashes through the Green District. Sidewalk curb ramps are being upgraded to better accommodate wheelchair users and other pedestrians.
The new traffic signal at the intersection of Oregon 42 and Rolling Hills/Grange Road was recently turned on. Drivers should watch out for traffic control changes through the corridor. New left-turn restrictions now prohibit left turns at several small side streets between Carnes Road and Rolling Hills Road. Motorists should watch for new traffic signs related to these restrictions. For local drivers who need to change directions, U-turn facilities are provided at the Rolling Hills Road and Carnes Road traffic signals. Until all U-turn signs are installed, drivers should use alternate routes to change direction.
From now until Christmas, watch for intermittent lane closures along Oregon 42 between Carnes Road and Rolling Hills Road as contractors place concrete barriers and raised traffic separators along the center median.
No construction is planned from Christmas until spring or summer 2026 when the contractor will return to pave the rest of the work zone and complete other final work items.
