TRANSIENT JAILED FOR REPORTEDLY ROBBERY AND THEFT INCIDENT

A transient was jailed for a reported robbery and theft incident on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 3:00 p.m. the 45-year-old allegedly stole a six pack of beer and two packaged pastries without paying for them at a business in 400 block of North Main Street in Canyonville. The manager of the store attempted to retrieve the items, and the suspect reportedly dropped the beer and then punched the manager in the chest.

The suspect was located later at a nearby business and was taken into custody. He was charged with third-degree counts of robbery and theft, and for warrants. Bail was set at $5,000.
