A Canyonville man was jailed following an alleged disturbance on Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 2:15 p.m. the 40-year-old and a female victim got into a verbal disturbance in the living room of a residence in the 100 block of Lower Court. The victim reportedly walked from his bedroom to check on the two and ask them to quiet down since some of the juveniles were sleeping.

The suspect allegedly charged the male victim, tackled him to the couch, and began to choke the victim in front of other people. The initial female involved had to help get the suspect off the male victim by punching him in the head several times.

The male suspect was charged with fourth-degree assault and strangulation. He was detained without bail.
