Douglas County Commissioners Tim Freeman, Tom Kress and Chris Boice are excited to officially kick off the Christmas season with the lighting of the 42nd annual Douglas County Christmas Tree on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.
A county release said the family-friendly event is free and open to kids of all ages. The lights on the tree and on the courthouse will be on display throughout the holiday season.
The evening will include a family-oriented program with music presented by the Hucrest Community Choir under the direction of Colin Hurowitz, the reading of a traditional Christmas story, tree lighting, and a visit from Santa Claus. Across the street from the courthouse, Roseburg’s First Christian Church and Journey Church will again present a live nativity scene. A hospitality tent will feature hot cocoa, coffee and cookies served by the Miss Douglas County Scholarship Program.
For those not able to attend in-person, the tree lighting ceremony will be live-streamed on the Douglas County Government Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DouglasCountyeGovernment
