A transient was jailed for a parole violation and weapons charges on Wednesday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 7:30 p.m. deputies observed 30-year-old Kirk Stroud and a second person, walking on North Main Street in Canyonville. The deputies knew that Stroud’s probation had stipulations where he is not to have contact with the other person. His parole officer confirmed that he would detain the man for being with the woman.
Deputies located both people in a nearby store where Stroud was taken into custody without incident. He was allegedly found to have a restricted knife concealed in his inner jacket pocket. Stroud was charged with the parole violation, being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. He was detained without bail.
