Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged assault incident on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 3:30 p.m. the 53-year-old allegedly struck the victim with his cane during a verbal disturbance at a residence in the 1800 block of Northeast Sunset Street. The incident was due to a disagreement over the use of a speaker system in the house. The assault reportedly occurred in the presence of a minor that lived in the residence.

The man was charged with fourth-degree felony assault and for unlawful use of a weapon. He was detained without bail.
