Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged elude incident on Monday night.

An RPD report said 8:30 p.m. officers attempted to stop a dirt bike on the multi-use path at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street, but the rider accelerated away from the officer. Officers lost sight of the rider, later identified as 49-year-old Joshua Frazier, while going around a blind corner on the path.

Officers then saw that Frazier had crashed his bike near the walking path underneath Interstate Five. The man was detained without incident. Frazier said he saw the emergency lights and heard the siren but believed they were coming from the freeway. He was allegedly found to be in possession of approximately 0.32 grams of methamphetamine. Dispatch also advised officers of a warrant, which they confirmed. Umpqua Valley Ambulance transported the man to CHI Mercy Medical Center where he was medically cleared.

Frazier was charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, attempting to elude a police officer, second-degree criminal trespass, reckless driving and driving while suspended or revoked. Bail was set at $500.
