Sutherlin Police arrested a juvenile student who was allegedly in possession of a knife at Sutherlin High School on Wednesday.

SPD Captain Kurt Sorensen said at 12:10 p.m. the school resource officer and other officers responded to the school, in the 500 block of East Fourth Avenue. Sorensen said school staff had already detained the student and had the knife secured.

After an investigation, the student was taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center. They were charged with two counts of attempted second-degree assault, menacing, stalking, and unlawful use of a weapon.
