Roseburg Police cited two men for a noise ordination violation in the downtown area on Friday night.
An RPD report said at 6:00 p.m. the 41-year-old from Scarsdale, New York was preaching his religious views extremely loudly with a large microphone and speaker system at the corner of Southeast Jackson Street and Southeast Washington Avenue. His comments were directed at parents and children during the Neewollah Parade, which caused multiple verbal disturbances amongst the religious group and parents.
When officers told the man to turn the speaker off, a second man, age 51 from Roseburg, stood on a large rock on Southeast Jackson Street and began yelling as loudly as he could, which could be heard from over 100 feet away.
Both were cited for noise disturbance with a fine of $1,500 each.
