Two drivers were taken to the hospital following a crash in south Douglas County on Tuesday evening.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 5:30 p.m. a deputy responded to the wreck at the intersection of Bills Road and Gales Lane, where a sedan and a minivan had collided head-on. The driver of the sedan, a 64-year-old woman, advised that the sun was in her eyes, and she could not see the turn. The driver of the mini-van, a 19-year-old man, claimed the sedan pulled out in front of his minivan as he was turning the corner.

Multiple witnesses on scene advised they watched the sedan leave its lane of travel, causing the accident. The woman was cited for failure to drive within a lane. Both drivers were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
