ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR REPORTED DUII INCIDENT

Roseburg Police jailed a man for a reported DUII incident on Wednesday evening.

An RPD report said at 10:15 p.m. an employee of a business in the 300 block of West Harvard Avenue called in a driver after witnessing him heading westbound on Harvard Avenue and crashing his sedan into a curb on the corner of the business’s property. Several feet of the curb were reportedly damaged due to the collision.

The 24-year-old allegedly fled the scene. He later told officers that he wasn’t thinking about reporting the crash to dispatch. When contacted at home, the man admitted to driving at approximately 75 miles per-hour on the Washington Street Bridge before the crash took place.

The man also showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking an alcoholic beverage. He agreed to perform standard field sobriety tests and allegedly performed poorly. The man was taken into custody He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage. The man was detained without bail and was released on Thursday.
