A transient was jailed for an alleged harassment incident on Monday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 9:50 a.m. while camping at Whistlers Bend Park in the 2800 block of Whistlers Park Road, 30-year-old Galveston Huey allegedly hit the victim on the back of the head and bear hug squeezed her. The victim was uninjured. A juvenile family member witnessed the altercation along with another camper.
Huey fled the scene and was later located. A small baggy of methamphetamine was reportedly located in his pocket. The camp host told the deputy that the man had not paid for his camping spot. Huey was charged with harassment, third-degree theft, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation. He was detained without bail.
